Michael Jackson's Unused Custom-Made Furniture Going On The Block
When Michael Jackson was planning his This Is It series of concerts in London last year, he commissioned 22 pieces of custom-made furniture for the home in which he he planned to live for the duration of the event. Now those pieces are going on the auction block. On June 25th, Julien's Auctions will sell the pieces at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. The weekend before, you'll be able to visit the resort to see a re-creation of the room as it would have looked if Michael had been living there, with all the furniture in place. A portion of the proceeds from the furniture sale will be donated to several charities.
Among the items up for sale are pieces studded with Swarovski crystals, covered in platinum-gold leaf, trimmed with ostrich feathers and upholstered in metallic leather and red velvet. The most expensive piece is a huge red velvet sofa big enough for nine people; it's expected to fetch 130 to 150 thousand bucks.
Also up for auction that same day will be the military jacket Michael wore when he married Debbie Rowe, one of his Victory tour outfits, handwritten lyrics for "Bad," and the jacket he wore in the "Beat It" video, autographed by the late King of Pop himself.
