Taio "Cruzes" To #1, Sets Chart Record
Last year, Jay Sean was the hot British newcomer who hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his debut single. This year, that title goes to Taio Cruz. "Break Your Heart," the first U.S. from the British singer/songwriter, has jumped from #53 on the chart to #1, setting a record in the process. That's the biggest leap to #1 ever by an artist's first single -- the previous record was #52 to #1, set by Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" back in 2002.
"Break Your Heart" is the first single released in the U.S. from Rokstarr, Cruz's second album, which will be out May 18th. It came out in the UK in October. Before he hit the big time as an artist in his own right, Taio Cruz wrote and produced songs for Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and The Pussycar Dolls.
