The Fairest Tour of Them All
Lilith Fair, a tour that celebrates women of all music genres, will be returning in summer 2010. Although the specific dates have yet to be announced, the lineup has been released and includes major R&B acts include Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige and Corinne Bailey Rae.
"Being a part of Lilith Fair was inspiring on so many levels," founder Sarah McLaughlin comments on the Lilith Fair website. "Besides discovering new music and sharing the stage with an incredible array of talented women, it was wonderful to see established and new artists alike have the opportunity to play in front of much larger audiences than usual. With that in mind, I am thrilled to announce to first set of artists for Lilith 2010."
The all-female showcase ran from 1997 through 1999 and was one of the highest grossing festivals in the worldit raised over $10 million for charity. McLaughlin founded the tour when she became frustrated that promoters and radio stations refused to feature two female artists in a row. She joined forces with Nettwerk Music Group's Dan Fraser and Terry McBrides, and agent Marty Diamond, and Lilith Fair was born.
In April 2009, McBride confirmed that Lilith would be back in '10 via Twitter. Stay tuned to www.lilithfair.com for specific tour dates.
